Cars

Year 2000 was extremely productive for the car companies. Inn Greece the sale uprising was about 20%. Car can now be consider as the symbol of the environmental perverseness, as it consumes the energy supplies. The mean velocity of the car in big cities is smaller than the bicycle velocity, while a big percent of the pollution is due to cars. Moreover, forests and protected areas are destroyed in order for highways to be built, and the vechicles' movement be easier.

Mc Donald’s

The most beautiful and vital forests are destroyed with quick pace from the companies. The growing demands for meat from the fast-food companies, lead to destroying of forest so as to be used as breeding animal places.

Itoiz

An example of struggle against environment's disaster is the one happened in Itoiz in Spain. A dam was about to be built, with an extremely large budget, and would cause the flood of a protected valley. Local society and ecologic organizations mobilized and won in the scientific and juristic field, while the dam continued. In 1995 a group formed which showed solidarity to the Itoiz habitants by blocking the construction. In the 6th of April 1996, eight members cut some important cables and blocked the construction for 1.5 years. This action was done in public and the eight activists were arrested and claimed to be responsible for their actions. A huge solidarity movement was mobilized and their action was legalized in the social field. In April of 1998 they were sentenced in 5 years of prison and high fines. Nigirie

THe huge oil companies (Shell, Mobil, etc.) have established a military regime to exploit the deposits there. The resistance movement already counts dead bodies...

TVX Gold

In Olympiada (a place in northern Greece) the Canadian gold company invested some million dollars. The ecologic disaster which would happen lead the habitants to resist and confront with the suppressive forces (police) to block the functioning of the factory. Some anarchists showed solidarity to this movement while anarchist N. Mazioths placed a bomb in the ministry of Elaboration. He claimed to be responsible for his actions and was hold in custody for 5.5 years and was set free finally.
